Center Stage Sexual Age: The Orca Large

July 25, 2017
Patty Affriol

Every other week, The CSPH takes a look at a sexual aid that can be very helpful for some people and highlight it. This week we take a look at the Orca Large from Erotic Exotics.

The Basics

We would like to preface this review by saying that this is not what we would classify as a beginner’s toy. Care needs to be taken during use as its length, size, circumference, and diameter are above average in comparison to other adult goods on the market.

Sold for $190 USD by Exotic Erotics, the Orca Large is made from silicone and has six unique firmness options for you to choose from. These include the basic firmness options of hard, medium, and soft, or, for an extra $10.00 you can instead opt for combinations such as medium shaft and hard base, soft shaft and hard base, or a soft shaft and medium base.

There are also a wide range of color options for both the base and shaft. For the shaft, there are approximately 20 free choices of color, which include UV reactive fluorescents. More complex colors in the pearlescent/metallic section, though, are an extra $10.00. There is also the option for three different surprises ranging from a single colour for $5.00, a double for $20.00, or a deluxe for $40.00.

For the base, practically all color options cost between $10.00 – $20.00, with the exception of “none (primary color only or natural markings)” being free.

The Orca Large is described as having a total length of 14.5” with a usable length of 16”. Thickness also increases from the tip, with a 0.60” diameter and 2” circumference, to 3/4 down the shaft just before the toy’s base, where the diameter reaches 2.70” and the circumference gets to 10”.

Additionally, the toy weighs approximately 5.1 LBS, which can make it rather awkward to use. Due to this, there is the option to add a large suction cup under its base for an extra $5.00. Though it is not the most reliable on all surfaces, it does prove to help with stability while one uses it.

Important Things to Note

As with most toys made from silicone, you are able to sterilize the Orca Large by boiling it in a pot for a few minutes or soaking it in a 10% bleach solution (be sure to rinse it thoroughly afterward). Alternatively, you can also sanitize the toy by putting it through your dishwasher, by itself (never put it in there with dirty dishes), on a “sanitize” setting. But understand that sanitizing the toy only means that you are reducing the number of germs on it to a level that is considered safe by public health codes.

Should you want to go the dishwasher route, be sure to first handwash the item in mild soap and water. This will help to remove any lubricant or bodily fluids that may still be on the toy. Do NOT use any detergent in the machine while the toy is in there as it is quite abrasive and can cause damage.

Come playtime, it is INCREDIBLY important to apply safe masturbation practices by using a lot of lubrication and taking your time in regard to insertion of the Orca Large.

Keep in mind that depending on the firmness you selected for the toy, the Orca’s already thin tip (at just 0.6”) can make insertion slightly more difficult, especially if used for anal stimulation. However, with some patience and maneuvering, this toy can make for an incredibly pleasurable experience.

Finally, should the Orca Large feel a little too overwhelming for you, there is also the option of purchasing the Orca Small, which has considerably smaller dimensions, and costs just $80.00 USD.
